Newcastle United has announced that their former captain, Kieran Trippier, will depart the club when his contract concludes at the end of the season.
Trippier arrived at Newcastle in January 2022, when the club was languishing in the Premier League relegation zone, and he played a pivotal role in their remarkable climb up the league standings.
The England international has made a total of 157 appearances for Newcastle, contributing to two Champions League qualifications and securing the club’s first domestic trophy in 70 years during his time there.
“The moment has arrived for me to say goodbye to this incredible club after four and a half years. This is where I’ve truly felt at home. It’s quite emotional, and I will genuinely miss it,” Trippier expressed.
“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the supporters for standing by me through both the highs and lows. Your unwavering support means the world to me.”
The 35-year-old has captained Newcastle on numerous occasions and became the first Magpies player to lead the England national team since Michael Owen in 2005.
