Newcastle United have announced that former captain Kieran Trippier will depart the club when his contract concludes at the season’s end.
Trippier made his move to Newcastle in January 2022 while the club was entrenched in the Premier League relegation zone, playing a pivotal role in their climb up the league.
The England international has featured in 157 matches for Newcastle, aiding in their achievements of two Champions League qualifications and securing the club’s first domestic trophy in 70 years during his time there.
“It’s time for me to leave this incredible club after four and a half years. I’ve truly felt at home here. It’s a bittersweet moment, and I will genuinely miss it,” Trippier expressed.
“I want to extend a huge thank you to the supporters for their unwavering support throughout the ups and downs. You have always been there for me and stood by my side.”
The 35-year-old has captained Newcastle on numerous occasions and became the first Magpies player to lead the England national team since Michael Owen in 2005.
