In a historic achievement, the Newcastle Jets have clinched the 2025-26 Isuzu UTE A-League Premiers Plate, marking the first time the club has ever received this honour. This remarkable feat caps off a stellar regular season for Mark Milligan’s charges.
This inaugural Premiership, and the first piece of A-League silverware for the Jets since they secured the Championship in 2008, was solidified in a crucial moment of the season. Their 2-2 draw against Melbourne Victory, coupled with the Central Coast Mariners’ 1-0 victory over second-placed Auckland FC, ensured the Jets soared to the top.
Securing the Premier’s Plate guarantees the Jets a Semi-Final spot, marking their return to the Finals for the first time since hosting the Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final in 2018, and also earns them a coveted place in the AFC Champions League Elite for the 2026-27 season.
This will be the Jets’ inaugural participation in Asia’s elite club competition, adding to their previous experience in the AFC Champions League during the 2008-09 season.
Additionally, the Jets remain in contention for an unprecedented domestic treble, having already triumphed in the 2025 Australia Cup.
This season has been a record-breaking journey for the Jets, as Milligan, in his debut year as head coach, has led the team to its highest-ever league finish, achieved a remarkable ten-match unbeaten streak, and an eight-match winning run, all while fielding the league’s youngest squad.
