Brentford’s quest for victory at home has hit a snag, as they extended their winless streak to seven games after a goalless draw against Fulham at the Brentford Community Stadium. This result is a considerable setback for their aspirations of finishing in the top five of the Premier League.
Following a remarkable season that saw Brentford in contention for UEFA Champions League qualification with just six matches remaining, the team struggled to maintain that momentum, particularly after Thomas Frank’s departure and Keith Andrews stepping in as head coach last summer.
Heading into this match, Fulham were just three points behind Brentford, vying for their own European qualification as well.
With stakes high for both sides, the first half unfolded in a tense manner, with few opportunities created by either team. Brentford looked the more dangerous of the two, with Igor Thiago missing a header and Dango Ouattara’s shot being comfortably saved. Keane Lewis-Potter came closest to scoring before halftime, but he shot over the bar from a promising position.
At the opposite end, Ryan Sessegnon squandered a chance, sending a shot over from a similar area, which marked a continued drought for Fulham in away games, now stretching to 10 matches without finding the net.

The second half mirrored the first, with both teams struggling to apply any consistent pressure.
Once again, Brentford appeared more purposeful, with Mikkel Damsgaard coming close to breaking the stalemate with a volley that went narrowly wide from a Kevin Schade header.
Nathan Collins then had a go but could only direct his header past the post from a corner.
Ultimately, the match reflected a distinct lack of urgency, with just four miles separating the two clubs, and neither side could dispute the draw when the final whistle blew.
Nonetheless, Bernd Leno made a spectacular save late in the game to thwart Ouattara, which stood out as the highlight of a dull contest.
The outcome means Brentford has missed the chance to leapfrog Chelsea into sixth place ahead of the Blues’ upcoming clash with Manchester United, while they now find themselves with five consecutive league draws, a feat not achieved since 1957.
On the other hand, Fulham remains in 12th place, still in the mix for continental competition, but enduring a streak of five Premier League matches without a victory.
