Brentford’s search for a home victory continues as they faced Fulham at the Brentford Community Stadium, settling for a disappointing goalless draw that significantly hampers their aspirations for a top-five finish in the Premier League.
Having enjoyed a remarkable season, Brentford found themselves in contention for UEFA Champions League qualification with just six matches remaining, a remarkable turnaround considering Thomas Frank’s replacement by Keith Andrews as coach last summer.
Meanwhile, Fulham trailed Brentford by just three points prior to kick-off, also vying for a European position.
With both teams under pressure, the first half turned out to be somewhat tentative, with few chances being carved out. Brentford looked the more likely to score, yet Igor Thiago headed wide, and Dango Ouattara’s shot was easily saved before Keane Lewis-Potter missed a golden opportunity by shooting over from close range just before the interval.
At the other end, Ryan Sessegnon also missed a chance from a similar position, extending Fulham’s miserable run of first-half away matches without a goal to ten across all competitions.

The second half continued in a similar vein, as both teams struggled to build any momentum.
Once again, Brentford appeared more dangerous, with Mikkel Damsgaard almost breaking the stalemate but volleying just off target from Kevin Schade’s assist.
Nathan Collins followed suit, yet his header from a corner went past the post.
In the end, the match lacked the intensity one might expect from a local rivalry, given the proximity of the two clubs, and it was no surprise when the game concluded with both sides sharing the spoils.
However, Bernd Leno made a remarkable save late in the match to deny Ouattara, which stood out as the highlight of the encounter.
This result sees Brentford miss the chance to leapfrog Chelsea into sixth position, ahead of the Blues’ upcoming fixture against Manchester United, as they register five consecutive league draws for the first time since 1957.
Fulham, meanwhile, remain positioned in 12th place, still in contention for European qualification, but are now enduring a streak of five Premier League matches without a victory.
