Bayern Munich orchestrated a stunning comeback from two goals down to secure a thrilling 3-2 win against SC Freiburg, moving ever closer to the Bundesliga title. This triumph not only extends their unbeaten streak away from home across all competitions to 12 matches (W10, D2) but also marks only the second competitive defeat for Die Breisgau-Brasilianer at Europa-Park Stadion since the season’s initial Bundesliga weekend (W13, D4).
Having been thoroughly humiliated with a 6-2 loss in their previous encounter, Freiburg aimed to present a more formidable challenge against the league leaders.
Just 15 minutes in, they had a prime chance to go ahead when Jan-Niklas Beste set up Philipp Treu, who squandered the opportunity by firing a first-time shot wide.

Freiburg soon required a superb save from Manuel Neuer, who was forced to parry away Lucas Holer’s close-range volley and then deny a diving header from Philipp Lienhart, although both efforts were ruled offside.
Bayern struggled to create clear-cut chances as the first half drew to a close, with Freiburg continuing their defensive trend of having conceded the fewest first-half home goals in the league this season—only five.
Nevertheless, the visitors hinted at their attacking prowess just before half-time when Lennart Karl tested Noah Atubolu with a low shot, only to miss a close-range effort shortly after. Serge Gnabry’s attempt from distance also went narrowly off target, leaving the scoreline unchanged at the break.
But parity was short-lived after the restart, with Johan Manzambi curling a stunning long-range shot past a stationary Neuer to put the hosts ahead.

Bayern, who had not lost a Bundesliga match after going behind this season (W5, D3), were incredibly fortunate not to find themselves further in the hole, as Holer squandered two fantastic opportunities—one went over the crossbar within the box, while the other slid agonisingly past the post.
Substitute Michael Olise also fluffed his lines with a miscalculated finish from point-blank range, allowing Freiburg to double their advantage with just 19 minutes remaining.
Neuer’s misadventure from a corner left Holer with the simplest task of scoring from the loose ball.
Despite the setback, Bayern relentlessly pursued a comeback, and Tom Bischof was instrumental. He launched a well-placed shot past Atubolu in the 81st minute to reduce the deficit, before equalising with another powerful strike deep into stoppage time.

In a sensational turn of events, Bayern clinched all three points with a last-gasp winner from Karl, who tapped in at the back post, sending their travelling fans into raptures.
This victory leaves Bayern comfortably at the top of the table, with them just one goal shy of surpassing their own record of 101 goals scored in a single Bundesliga season set in 1971/72.
Vincent Kompany’s team now prepares for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they will face Real Madrid midweek.
Freiburg, meanwhile, will set their sights on their upcoming UEFA Europa League clash against RC Celta de Vigo, with Julian Schuster’s squad currently positioned eighth in the Bundesliga.
