The CERA Dunlop Destiny Program has once again provided a significant boost to the grassroots motorsport scene, offering seven emerging drivers the opportunity to learn from top-notch professionals at Norwell Motorplex.
Last month, the Circuit Excel Racing Association (CERA) partnered with Dunlop Motorsport, spearheaded by Bill McKenna and the Norwell venue, to gather seven promising young drivers for an all-encompassing racing experience.
The participants were mentored by both current stars and renowned figures from the racing world, including Broc Feeney, Brodie Kostecki, and Paul Morris.
In a first for the program, state clubs were able to nominate one driver from their membership to take part this year.

The participants included Will McSwan (Queensland), Zane Rhodes (Western Australia), Joel Johnson (South Australia), Will Twining (Victoria), Matt Handsford Taylor (New South Wales), Will Blair (Tasmania), and Aleeanz Voltz (Northern Territory).
CERA Secretary Andrew Young spoke about the collaboration with Dunlop, Norwell Motorplex, and CERA.
“At CERA, we are all volunteers, engaged in this because we see the benefits it can bring,” Young expressed.
“The chance for all these drivers to visit Norwell is spectacular, and they gain immense knowledge from the experience.
“Having legends like Broc Feeney, Paul Morris, and Brodie Kostecki on hand to mentor them is remarkable and something we truly appreciate.
“The value they receive from just being there is a reward in itself.
“Take Broc Feeney, for instance. He started in Excels and is now clinching Supercar victories while helping our young talents.”
All participants were challenged across multiple aspects of racing, including driving techniques, track walks, fitness, recovery, and mental preparation.
McSwan was crowned the 2026 winner of the Dunlop Destiny Program, securing a $12,000 prize package that will give a significant lift to his emerging racing career.

Feeney led the young drivers on a lengthy track walk, sharing insights into driving techniques and their application across various circuits.
The drivers then formed groups to alternate between driving practices and data analysis, followed by a CrossFit session aimed at recovery.
In terms of race craft, the drivers headed to the skid pan for driving control exercises before participating in a shootout around the circuit.
McSwan described the Excels as an ideal platform for aspiring drivers.
“It’s a fantastic program and likely the best option for grassroots racing in Australia,” McSwan remarked.
“The racing is thrilling and always involves close competition. The Destiny program is exceptional, and the organisers go the extra mile for us. I am very thankful for their efforts.”
McSwan and the others are set to participate in two national events supported by CERA in 2026.
The first will be the 24/7 Roadservices Australia Circuit Excel Bathurst Challenge, acting as a support category for the Bathurst 6 Hour event from April 3-5, featuring a 42-car grid.
Two months later, the CERA Circuit Excel Nationals will take place at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park at The Bend, scheduled for June 12-14.
The events, alongside the Dunlop Destiny Program, CERA, Dunlop, and Norwell Motorplex, will continue to contribute positively to grassroots racing.
