Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard expressed his sympathy for the travelling fans following their FA Cup quarter-final loss to Southampton.
The Saints shocked the Premier League leaders with a 2-1 victory at St Mary’s, thanks to Shea Charles’ late winner in the 85th minute.
Norgaard reflected on the match, stating: “It’s a disappointing night. We all had high hopes of progressing today and returning to Wembley, but that’s not how it turned out.
“I apologise to the many supporters who made the journey; they created an incredible atmosphere, and unfortunately, we were unable to deliver for them today.
“The first half was frustrating, yet we did have a strong spell where we really had them under pressure, creating numerous set pieces and shots around the area, including in the second half before we conceded the second goal.
“There was a period when we were firmly in control of the match. We failed to convert those opportunities into goals and fell short in our defensive efforts for the two goals we conceded.”
