The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that the Nigeria national team will take on Portugal and Poland in prestigious international friendly matches this June.
Under the guidance of Eric Chelle, the team recently participated in a four-nation tournament in Turkey, where they secured a victory against Iran and played to a 2-2 draw with Jordan.
As stated by the NFF, the Super Eagles are set to face Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on June 3, followed by a match against Portugal in a venue yet to be confirmed on June 10.
“Jairo Pachon, the NFF’s FIFA Match Agent from Eurodata Sport, affirmed on Thursday that the encounter with Poland will occur at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on June 3, whilst the match against Portugal will take place in Portugal on June 10, with a venue to be disclosed shortly,” the NFF’s statement revealed.
“The clash against the Selecao das Quinas, the name of the Portugal senior men’s team, will serve as the final match for the hosts before they head out to the far west for the upcoming FIFA World Cup finals, which will be jointly held by the USA, Canada, and Mexico this summer.”
“The reigning cup holders, the Super Eagles, are also set to defend their title at the Unity Cup Tournament in London, scheduled for May 26 to 30.”
Nigeria experienced disappointment by failing to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to their inability to overcome DR Congo in the play-off held in Morocco.
Nonetheless, they finished in third place at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations, triumphing over the Egyptian national team in a penalty shootout after a draw.
