Liverpool secured their place in the Premier League’s top five by overpowering Fulham with a 2-0 victory at Anfield, snapping a three-match streak without a head-to-head win.
The build-up to this clash was largely overshadowed by the announcement that Andrew Robertson would depart at season’s end, but he was not shy to seize an opportunity early in the match.
A powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area was bravely blocked by Harry Wilson, shortly before Mohamed Salah, another player set to leave at season’s close, tested Bernd Leno with a fierce effort from a tight angle.
The pressure on Fulham’s goal was mounting, and it nearly paid off just 20 minutes in when Cody Gakpo smashed a shot inches wide from the edge of the area.
Fulham started to find their rhythm in the latter stages of the half, creating chances and testing Giorgi Mamardashvili with two quick shots from Alex Iwobi and Oscar Bobb, both of which brought out excellent saves from the Liverpool keeper. Harry Wilson then came close once more, curling an effort onto the roof of the net.
However, they would come to regret those missed chances just before half-time, when Rio Ngumoha danced through the defence and executed a stunning curling strike into the far corner.
Salah then added to Fulham’s woes right before the break, finishing with precision from a similar position to leave Marco Silva’s side facing an uphill battle in the second half.
In response, Silva brought on Sasa Lukic and Emile Smith Rowe at half-time. Just five minutes after the restart, Lukic found the back of the net, but it was ruled out for offside.
Fulham had their opportunities, particularly from set pieces, crafting a notable chance when Rodrigo Muniz, unmarked, had his header saved by Florian Wirtz.
The London side continued to attack corners, squandering yet another opportunity when Joachim Andersen connected but could only direct Wilson’s cross just wide of the target.

Smith Rowe wasted a golden opportunity to pull one back when he shot wide from just six yards out, marking Fulham’s last significant chance as they succumbed to their ninth away league defeat this season.
For Liverpool, the victory sets them up perfectly ahead of their midweek UEFA Champions League clash against PSG, where a similar scoreline will be essential for any hopes of progression.
