A blistering performance propelled Paris FC to just their third-ever victory against AS Monaco, with the home side triumphing 4-1 to bring an end to Les Monégasques’ impressive seven-match winning streak in Ligue 1, the longest active streak in Europe’s top-five leagues.
With four of their last six fixtures scheduled against top-half teams, Paris FC aimed for a strong start to bolster their mid-table safety. And they certainly delivered, surging into a two-goal advantage within the first eight minutes.
Monaco struggled to cope with Moses Simon’s blistering pace down the left flank, allowing him to cut inside and deliver a low cross that was expertly finished by Jonathan Ikoné at the back post.
The visitors had hardly settled into the game when they were again caught off guard on the opposite wing, with Ikoné playing another crucial role.
He combined effectively with Marshall Munetsi, creating space for the Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee to set up Ciro Immobile, who confidently scored his second goal in consecutive appearances.
Although Lukas Hradecky and Wout Faes managed to deny Maxime Lopez from extending Monaco’s woes, it offered only a brief respite.
A couple of vital saves by Kevin Trapp against Simon Adingra and Ansu Fati proved significant as the hosts initiated a breathtaking counter-attack, culminating in Immobile finding Ikoné, who notched his second goal of the evening in a nearly identical manner to his first.
Lopez then shot over the bar, yet Sébastien Pocognoli’s stunned side managed to rally and exert pressure before half-time.
Folarin Balogun missed a golden opportunity at the back post but found the net shortly after, thanks to a well-timed pass from Aladji Bamba, making him the first player since Neymar in 2022 to score in seven consecutive Ligue 1 games.

Emboldened by the momentum, Monaco were thwarted again as Trapp denied Fati right before the half-time whistle, giving the Paris player a much-needed respite.
Antoine Kombouaré’s squad regrouped and returned to their attacking flow after the break; however, a lack of clinical finishing saw several promising chances end in disappointment.
The substitution of Paul Pogba for his first appearance since December initially seemed to lift Monaco’s spirits, but just two minutes later, calamity struck again.
Only six minutes after being brought on, Luca Koleosho unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box, leaving Hradecky no chance as it thundered in off the underside of the crossbar.
This goal capped off Paris’ most significant victory of the season, creating a 12-point buffer from the relegation zone and extending their unbeaten streak to seven matches.
For Monaco, this defeat marks their first in Ligue 1 since January, as they missed the opportunity to break into the top three. This disappointing result also extends their troubling run in Monday fixtures away from home to just one victory in ten attempts.
