Port Adelaide’s key players endured two notable misses in the second quarter during their clash with North Melbourne, but the Power managed to stave off a comeback and secure a win.
Port came out of the blocks quickly in Adelaide, establishing a solid lead of 7.3 (45) to 2.4 (16) by the first break.
As the Kangaroos started to rally in the second quarter, it appeared that Port had squandered two prime opportunities to regain control.
With eight minutes remaining in the quarter, Mitch Georgiades took a mark just metres from the goal and near the edge of the goal square.
Opting to play on, the forward completely misfired, producing an embarrassing miss.

Commentator Jason Dunstall provided his take on the incident, stating, “He went to snap it left foot around the corner and hit the wrong side of the ball. It went in the opposite direction he intended. We’re seeing everything today,” on Fox Footy.
Just a minute later, Sam Powell-Pepper was awarded a free kick right in front of goal after being pushed in the back.
However, his set shot, taken just before the goal square, ended up in the hands of Charlie Comben, who was on the mark.
“This is as bizarre as it gets,” caller Dwayne Russell remarked.
Dunstall added, “I’ve never witnessed so many straightforward goals missed in such a short period.”

Following this, a ball-up occurred, and Jason Horne-Francis managed to score a goal despite the pressure he was under.
“And then they kicked a quick one that really shouldn’t have gone in,” Dunstall pointed out.
At half-time, Port’s advantage had dwindled to just 12 points, which extended to 13 by the third quarter, as the Kangaroos seemed keen on pulling off a massive upset.
However, Port Adelaide stood firm, ultimately winning 14.13 (97) to 13.10 (88).
Both North’s Paul Curtis and Power star Darcy Byrne-Jones topped the goal count with three each.
Kangaroo Harry Sheezel made a significant contribution with 30 disposals, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory.
Looking ahead, North Melbourne will face Essendon on Thursday night, while Port Adelaide is set to clash with the Bulldogs in Ballarat on Saturday.
