Michael Carrick expressed his enjoyment in managing Manchester United but clarified that he is not “in pursuit” of answers regarding his future as the club edges closer to securing a Champions League spot.
The former United midfielder took on the role of head coach until the conclusion of the season after Ruben Amorim’s contentious departure in January.
Carrick has orchestrated victories against rivals Manchester City and Arsenal during a commendable period that has propelled United into third place in the Premier League.
Despite this success, he remains uncertain about his long-term future.
“I’ve mentioned it repeatedly, I really enjoy being here and I appreciate the role I have,” Carrick stated on Thursday, in anticipation of Monday’s home clash against Brentford.
“We’ve achieved some positive results and are in a good position. There’s still plenty of the season left, and we aim to keep improving; there are further levels we want to reach. We’ll see how things unfold.”
“I find myself reiterating the same sentiments each week. There’s only so much I can convey regarding that matter, but it’s worth saying again.”
“I truly enjoy my time here, and it’s a genuine privilege to hold this position, embracing the responsibilities that come with it.”
The 44-year-old former England international admitted he does not know when he will gain clarity about his future.
“Honestly, I’m not focused on any specific deadlines. I believe things will become clear in their own time.”
