The Brisbane Broncos have officially confirmed the signing of Mitch Barnett, with Grant Anderson being included in the swap deal with the Warriors.
Barnett received clearance to depart New Zealand on compassionate grounds and has committed to a three-year contract with Brisbane, contingent on a player moving to the Warriors in exchange.
Anderson, who joined the Broncos from Melbourne during the pre-season, will switch teams despite being contracted until the close of 2027. His new deal with the Warriors will also span three years, providing him with greater stability.
“Grant has been an outstanding addition to our squad, fully embracing our standards and culture,” said Simon Scanlan, the Broncos’ recruitment chief, in an official statement.
“We eagerly anticipate his return to the field in the upcoming weeks.”

Coach Andrew Webster of the Warriors is thrilled to secure the services of the former Storm winger.
“Grant is a skilled outside back with a lot to contribute,” he commented.
“His addition enhances our depth in the backline and will certainly increase competition within the squad.”
“Moreover, we will gain from the professionalism he has developed after four years with the Storm and his experience with the Broncos this season.”

This season, Maguire made a trip to Sydney as clubs presented their cases to the prop.
An urgent priority emerged to secure Barnett’s signature following Payne Haas’s stunning announcement of his move to South Sydney.
“We’re thrilled to usher Mitch into Brisbane next season,” Scanlan added.
“He’s a tested performer at both club and representative levels, exhibiting the leadership, professionalism, and competitive spirit we cherish at the Broncos.”
“Mitch leads by example; his toughness, consistency, and extensive experience will greatly enhance our squad.”
