Dennis te Kloese, the general director of Feyenoord, has confirmed that he will be stepping down from his role at the Rotterdam club at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Te Kloese took the helm at Feyenoord in 2022, following previous positions with LA Galaxy, the Mexican Football Federation, and various roles at Chivas Guadalajara, Tigres, and Chivas USA.
During his tenure at Feyenoord, the club achieved significant success, clinching the Eredivisie title in the 2022-23 season, the KNVB Beker in 2023-24, and the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2024-25.
A statement released on the club’s website commended Te Kloese for his impact on the club’s finances, noting that equity soared from €1 million in 2022 to €37 million in the latest financial reports. Additionally, the club recorded an all-time high revenue of €160 million during the 2024-25 season.
The 52-year-old, who previously worked as a scout, expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition as he wraps up the season. “It has genuinely been an honour to lead Feyenoord. While not everything has unfolded flawlessly, we have made substantial progress together with all my colleagues at the club,” he stated in a club announcement.
Feyenoord is currently experiencing a challenging season under the management of Robin van Persie but sits in second place with four matches left to play, securing a direct entry into the League Phase of next year’s UEFA Champions League.
However, recent criticism has arisen from Feyenoord fans, particularly during an Eredivisie match against FC Utrecht, where away supporters displayed several banners calling for both Te Kloese and Van Persie to resign.

“The groundwork that has been established is solid,” Te Kloese added. “I hope the club and its supporters can continue to develop this, especially in finally uniting with the stadium after decades of challenges.”
Speculation regarding Te Kloese’s potential move to Mexican club Monterrey has circulated prior to this announcement. It appears he is poised to accept the role of sporting director at Monterrey, an opportunity related to the country of his wife’s heritage that he cannot overlook.
“What lies ahead for my family and me is uncertain, but I will always reflect fondly on this chapter and wish Feyenoord and all its fans the very best,” Te Kloese concluded.
