Long-serving midfielder Dani Ceballos is reportedly preparing to depart Real Madrid this summer, bringing to a close a nine-year tenure in the Spanish capital.
Dani Ceballos, aged 29, made the move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2017 from Real Betis, with the club receiving a transfer fee of approximately €18 million for the midfielder. Throughout his time with Los Merengues, he has made 214 appearances, contributing to an impressive haul of 15 trophies. Ceballos also spent two of his nine years with Real on loan at Arsenal, from 2019 to 2021.
This season, Ceballos has featured for just 810 minutes across 22 matches in all competitions.
With his contract set to expire in Madrid this summer, the 14-time Spanish international appears to be on his way out. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Ceballos will leave the club when his agreement ends, with three teams already interested in securing his signature.
Ajax poised to act
Dutch powerhouse Ajax seems to be one of the clubs ready to take action, with technical director Jordi Cruyff looking to refresh the squad of the record champions during the upcoming transfer window.
Currently sitting fifth in the Eredivisie, Ajax is facing the prospect of a fourth season without silverware. Cruyff, who previously held the director of football role at FC Barcelona, joined the Amsterdam outfit in February.
