Brisbane Broncos second-rower Brendan Piakura has received a two-match suspension following a high tackle on Wests Tigers prop Terrell May during their 46-24 victory on Saturday.
The match review committee found Piakura guilty of a grade two careless high tackle.
If he opts for an early guilty plea, he will miss two games; however, should he choose to contest the charge at the judiciary and be unsuccessful, he faces a three-match suspension.
This incident marks the 22-year-old’s second recorded offence.
Referee Liam Kennedy issued a sin-bin sanction for the incident that occurred in the 20th minute at Suncorp Stadium.
Even in the absence of a suspension, Piakura would have been unavailable for at least one match after failing a head injury assessment due to a collision with Tigers lock Alex Twal.
In the closing minutes of the game, Piakura was taken off the field on a stretcher.
