After trailing 3-0 at half-time, AGF staged a remarkable comeback in the second half, securing a stunning 4-3 victory over their fierce rivals FC Copenhagen in a friendly match. This encounter marked the inauguration of their temporary venue at Vejlby while their new stadium is being developed.
On Saturday, AGF unveiled their new temporary home, Ceres Park Vejlby, as they took on FC Copenhagen in what was their final pre-season training match before the Danish Superliga resumes next weekend.
The visitors wasted no time in establishing control, scoring within 13 minutes. Magnus Mattsson played a ball through to young Amin Chiaka, who, despite a somewhat awkward finish, managed to slot the ball past AGF goalkeeper Jesper Hansen into the net.
Shortly afterwards, Robert Silva extended FC Copenhagen’s lead, and things took a turn for the worse for AGF just 27 minutes in, when Magnus Mattsson converted a penalty after Jordan Larsson was fouled in the area.
However, AGF found their footing a few minutes into the second half, narrowing the gap to 3-1 when Mikael Andersson netted a penalty following a challenging tackle by Thomas Delaney on Gift Links in the box.
This goal rejuvenated the home side, and just four minutes later, Andersson struck again, capitalising on a poor clearance from Kevin Diks with a powerful shot that sent the home crowd into celebration.
After Viktor Claesson missed a significant opportunity for the visitors, Patrck Mortensen equalised with a bullet header just four minutes before the end. To cap off an extraordinary afternoon for AGF, Nicolai Poulsen scored the decisive goal in injury time, making it 4-3.
AGF will kick off the second half of the Superliga season with an away match against Sønderjyske on February 16, while FC Copenhagen will visit Randers the following day.
