Nikita Rukavytsya, a former striker for Perth Glory, Western Sydney Wanderers, and Western United, has announced his retirement from professional football.
At the age of 37, the retired Socceroo took to social media to declare the end of his playing career, having been without a club since parting ways with Western United at the conclusion of the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
“After such a long and incredible journey, it’s time for me to step aside,” he expressed.
“I will always be that six-year-old boy with a ball under my arm, heading out to play in the street, and after every goal, imagining a celebration with a packed stadium chanting my name!”
“To my teams, teammates, coaches, and all the incredible staff from all my clubs and the national team, thank you so much. I appreciate every one of you.”
