The football director of Perth Glory, Stan Lazaridis, has announced that EFL Championship club QPR has secured the signing of promising talent Jaylan Pearman.
Pearman has been a standout performer during what has been a challenging season for the Glory. The 18-year-old academy graduate is quickly establishing himself as one of the most thrilling prospects in the Isuzu UTE A-League.
In his debut season with Perth, the young star has netted one goal across six appearances.
Lazaridis, a former Socceroo, confirmed that Pearman is set to join fellow Australian and Glory alumnus Daniel Bennie at QPR in England.

“We must be on the right track if four or five of our young players are earning selections for the Socceroos,” Lazaridis stated in the latest episode of Glory Stories.
“Jaylan Pearman has just been signed by QPR. The club stands to gain $350-400,000 from a player who has only featured in five matches.”
“Andriano Lebib is also attracting interest from several clubs.”
“Despite the struggles we are currently facing, there are numerous positive developments that will benefit the players significantly for next season.”
“If we can execute our recruitment strategy effectively, particularly for the coming season, we’ll be looking at some solid first-team, experienced signings… I aim for us to be competing in the top six.”

In a comprehensive 40-minute interview, Lazaridis discussed various topics, including Perth’s recruitment strategies.
The January transfer window has been busy for the second-last Glory, with the club bringing in Tomislav Mrcela, Lachie Wales, Yuto Misao, Takuya Okamoto, Patrick Wood (on loan from Sydney FC), Tass Mourdoukoutas, and Luke Amos (Hibernian).
On the flip side, Perth bid farewell to Mustafa Amini, Cristian Caicedo, Luis Canga, Luke Bodnar, Jacob Muir, Jarrod Carluccio, and Abdul Faisal.
Wales, who previously lifted the A-League championship with Western United before a stint in South Korea, returned to Australia in January. Lazaridis revealed that he had wanted to sign the forward at the start of the season.
Wales was among several players the Glory had in their sights, according to the former great.
“Lachie Wales was a player I had my eye on when I first arrived, but unfortunately, we couldn’t secure him at the beginning of the season,” Lazaridis explained.
“I also pursued Dylan Pierias (now at Adelaide United), Eli Adams (Newcastle Jets), and (Hiroshi) Ibusuki (now at Western United).
“I had envisioned a dream combination of Ibusuki and Adam Taggart. Sadly, we had to forgo that option. It was quite painful because I know the fans would have embraced him.”
Lazaridis reflected on the less-than-successful tenures of foreign players Caicedo and Luis Canga.
Both players joined the club right before the season began, but struggled to make an impact and eventually left HBF Park by mutual consent during the January transfer window.
Lazaridis explained that their arrivals were a by-product of Colombian defender Cristian Devenish opting out of his move to Perth.
“Our goal was to secure one key defender. That was the directive,” he stated. “We had earmarked Cristian Devenish, a player familiar to all the fans.”
“It was a lengthy, four-month process to bring him on board. We focused solely on him, which meant we had no budget left for others. He was an expensive signing, but worth every penny. We were discussing a player who regularly plays in the Portuguese first division.”
“He agreed to join us and signed. However, ten days before the season, he informed us he had signed with a Portuguese first-division team.”
“Then we were left scrambling. When you’re in that narrow window and facing a deadline, finding a centre-back is extremely challenging. We did reach out to Tommy Mrcela, but he had already committed to a team in Croatia. Unfortunately, he was let down right on deadline day.”
“That’s when we took a chance on Luis Canga and Cristian Caicedo. They essentially came available when their agent reached out to us, expressing their desire to play for the club after the earlier situation.”
“They assured us that if it didn’t pan out in the next four to five months, we could send them back. We reviewed their CVs and assessed their profiles. The coaching team went through Luis’s information, noting his experience with Ecuador, and he had an impressive resume.”
“However, they just didn’t fit in. They failed to adapt and arrived in less than optimal shape. We had to ensure they were eligible for release during the window so we could strengthen our squad. That setback significantly impacted us.”
