Melbourne’s struggles since last year’s grand final defeat have reached a new low, as the renowned club was decisively beaten 38-14 at home by the Warriors.
While conceding 50 points to the Panthers was shocking, the manner of their performance against New Zealand has left Craig Bellamy deeply concerned.
The frustration of the seasoned coach was evident when he unleashed a tirade at second-rower Joe Chan during half-time, as his team trailed 18-14.
“I’ve been in that position, so my advice to Joe is, don’t argue back with Craig; it didn’t go well for me the last time I tried that,” Cooper Cronk remarked on Fox League.

Chan made several mistakes, including a ruck infringement and incurring a penalty in the first half.
Lock Trent Loiero also struggled with discipline, being placed on report for a high shot before the break.
“I suspect Trent Loiero and Joe Chan are going to hear from Craig Bellamy… their indiscretions have put the side under a lot of pressure tonight,” Mick Ennis stated.
The motivation from Bellamy seemed ineffective as Chan made another error early in the second half and was substituted in the 45th minute, not to return.
“It’s tough; he’s had a rough night. We’ve all had tough nights, but he’s a talented player, Chan,” Ennis added.

After the break, Melbourne failed to score a single point, with the Warriors notching their first victory at AAMI Park in 11 years, marking their biggest win over Melbourne.
Melbourne’s frustration was palpable with just 13 minutes remaining when Chanel Harris-Tavita delivered a heavy rib shot on prop Josh King. King lost possession and reacted by shoving Harris-Tavita before returning to defence.

Tempers flared as players from both teams congregated, with Stefano Utoikamanu notably facing off against Jacob Laban.
“This is frustration being shown by Melbourne,” Ennis said.
“Harris-Tavita’s defence is exceptional; he doesn’t get enough credit for it, and he made sure Josh King knew it,” he added.
The referee brought together captains Harry Grant and James Fisher-Harris, while Jahrome Hughes was placed on report for a high shot that took place immediately after King’s error.
No players were sent to the sin bin during this drama.
On the final tackle of the subsequent set, Will Warbrick nearly scored in the corner but was pushed into touch by Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
“Their defence is brutal, relentless, and unwavering,” commented caller Andrew Voss as players rushed in from all directions to celebrate with the Warriors.
Tuivasa-Sheck revelled in the moment, raising a finger to signal the Melbourne players about what just unfolded.

After the match, Bellamy was seen deep in thought in the coaching box, staring blankly into space long after the game had concluded.
“This is a continuation of two consecutive grand final losses, and I believe that’s a significant aspect of what’s currently affecting the Melbourne Storm,” Cronk noted.
