Sektion 12, the prominent fan group backing FC Copenhagen, has launched a significant protest against the proposed McDonald’s outlet to be established within Parken stadium.
FC Copenhagen is set to open a McDonald’s restaurant in Parken stadium this summer, positioned between the B and C stands.
This plan has not been well received by “Sektion 12,” the fan group situated in the B stand, known for creating the atmosphere and leading chants for the home side during matches.
“Sektion 12” expressed on their Instagram account that PS&E, the parent company of FC Copenhagen, seems to prioritise profit over fostering a vibrant fan community.
“The area (between the B and C stands, ed.) has traditionally been a gathering spot for fans before and after games, where they could socialise, share experiences, and unwind with a final drink at the end of the night.”
“Now, it’s being replaced by a global fast-food chain that lacks any ties to Copenhagen.”
“This decision speaks volumes: profit takes precedence over supporters. Rather than enhancing the matchday experience and investing in the stadium, management has opted for short-term gains,” stated “Sektion 12,” urging fans to boycott McDonald’s at Parken stadium.
By the close of 2025, there will be 121 McDonald’s locations in Denmark, serving approximately 80 million burgers annually across the nation.
