Brisbane Roar has announced that Sharn Freier, a key player for the CommBank Matildas and a standout in the Ninja A-League, will be sidelined for the rest of the 2024-25 season due to an ankle injury.
The injury occurred during the second half of Brisbane’s Round 13 match against Perth Glory at the Sam Kerr Football Centre.
The 23-year-old missed Brisbane’s home match against Wellington Phoenix in Round 14, and it has now been confirmed that she will not make a return this season.
This season, Freier has featured in 11 matches for Brisbane, netting two goals and providing four assists while excelling alongside her twin sister, Laini Freier, in attack.
The confirmation of her season-ending injury was made by the club ahead of Brisbane’s upcoming Round 15 encounter with Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday.
“Brisbane Roar sadly confirms that Sharn Freier will be unavailable for the remainder of the 2024/25 season following her ankle injury sustained in Round 13 against Perth Glory,” the club stated.
“We wish Sharn a smooth and speedy recovery.”
Freier is scheduled to join Bundesliga powerhouse VfL Wolfsburg at the end of the 2024-25 Ninja A-League season.
