Augsburg and Hoffenheim ended their clash at the WWK Arena in a gripping 2-2 stalemate, with all four goals arriving in a tumultuous first half.
The home side started explosively, striking twice within the first 15 minutes. In the 11th minute, Alexis Claude-Maurice embarked on a dazzling run from the halfway line, linking up with Robin Fellhauer before firing a low, powerful shot past Oliver Baumann.
Just three minutes later, Hoffenheim’s defence was caught off guard by a direct long ball from Jeffrey Gouweleeuw, finding Michael Gregoritsch, who outmuscled Ozan Kabak and smashed the ball into the net.
Christian Ilzer’s side, in contention for a Champions League spot, was left reeling. Only a brilliant challenge from Albian Hajdari denied Anton Kade a clear shot and prevented further damage as Kade’s follow-up effort forced a save from Baumann.
Despite a quiet 35 minutes, the visitors managed to reduce the deficit when Vladimír Coufal’s corner was met by a deft header from fellow countryman Robin Hranáč with 10 minutes left in the half.

Yet, the visitors weren’t done there and equalised just three minutes before the break. Fisnik Asllani cleverly backheeled the ball to Bazoumana Touré, whose square pass deceived Finn Dahmen in goal, finding the net via a fortunate deflection off the post.
Even though they had equalised in somewhat fortunate circumstances, Augsburg nearly regained the lead just before the half-time whistle. Hajdari once again made a crucial intervention, clearing Gouweleeuw’s header off the line before Gregoritsch rattled the crossbar with a half-volley from 12 yards.
In contrast to the first half, Hoffenheim wasted no time after the break, having their first significant opportunity just 30 seconds in when Tim Lemperle’s header sailed onto the roof of the net following a clever flick-on by Grischa Prömel.
Lemperle threatened again shortly after, sending a low shot toward goal that was saved following a series of intricate passes involving Asllani and Andrej Kramarić.
It wasn’t until the 70th minute that Augsburg posed a threat in the second half, with Claude-Maurice attempting a low drive that took a nasty deflection but was saved well by Baumann with his legs.
As the match appeared to be drifting towards a draw, Augsburg were handed a late chance at a winner when Bernardo fouled Kade in the box. Claude-Maurice stepped up to take the penalty but his attempt sailed over the bar.

There was still time for another goalline clearance from Hoffenheim, as Leon Avdullahu rescued his keeper by denying Dimitris Giannoulis after Baumann misjudged a cross. In the end, neither team could secure the win, extending their respective winless streaks.
Hoffenheim finds themselves without a victory in four matches as they struggle for a historic chance to secure a place in Europe, while Augsburg has not won in five games, firmly entrenching them in mid-table.
