Augsburg and Hoffenheim played out an exciting 2-2 draw at the WWK Arena, with all four goals scored in a lively first half.
The home side began with a bang, netting twice in the first 15 minutes. On 11 minutes, Alexis Claude-Maurice embarked on a dazzling run from the halfway line, linking up with Robin Fellhauer before unleashing a powerful low shot that beat Oliver Baumann.
Just three minutes later, a more direct approach had the visitors reeling again, as Jeffrey Gouweleeuw’s long ball found Michael Gregoritsch, who out-muscled Ozan Kabak to fire his effort into the net.
Christian Ilzer’s Champions League hopefuls were taken aback, with a desperate challenge from Albian Hajdari preventing Anton Kade from scoring before Kade forced a save from Baumann with a fierce shot.
In the first 35 minutes, Hoffenheim had struggled to create any clear opportunities, but they managed to reduce the deficit when Vladimír Coufal’s corner was converted by a diving header from his compatriot Robin Hranáč, just 10 minutes before half-time.

But they weren’t done there, equalising just three minutes before half-time. Fisnik Asllani creatively set up Bazoumana Touré with a backheel in a tight space, and the 20-year-old’s ensuing square pass wrong-footed Finn Dahmen, finding the net via the inside of the post.
Despite their unexpected equaliser, the visitors were close to going behind again during stoppage time in a frantic first half. Hajdari again came to the rescue, clearing a header from Gouweleeuw off the line before Gregoritsch hit the crossbar with a half-volley from 12 yards.
In a stark contrast to the first half, Hoffenheim wasted no time in the second period, as Tim Lemperle glanced a header onto the roof of the net just 30 seconds after play resumed, following a clever flick-on from Grischa Prömel.
Moments later, Lemperle attempted again, testing the keeper with a low shot after a neat exchange with Asllani and Andrej Kramarić inside the penalty area.
It took the hosts until the 70th minute to pose a threat in the second half, with Claude-Maurice’s low effort taking a wicked deflection that almost caught Baumann off guard; however, the keeper managed to save it with his legs.
Just when it seemed the match was settling for a draw, the home side received a golden opportunity to secure a late winner when Bernardo fouled Kade in the box. However, Claude-Maurice blazed his shot over the bar.

There was still time for one more goal-line clearance from Hoffenheim as Leon Avdullahu stepped in to save his goalkeeper’s blushes, denying Dimitris Giannoulis after Baumann failed to handle a cross. In the end, both teams had to settle for a point, extending their winless streaks.
Hoffenheim remain without a victory in four matches as they struggle to secure a spot at European football’s highest level for the first time, while Augsburg have gone five games without a win, firmly placing them in the mid-table mix.
