Former Liverpool forward Stan Collymore has expressed his dissatisfaction with Mohamed Salah’s conduct during his final season with the club.
Collymore believes that the iconic Egyptian will be effectively replaced, but he is not pleased with how Salah has handled his last year at Liverpool.
In an interview with Tribalfootball for Best Betting Bonuses, Collymore remarked: “It’s unfortunate, but he could have managed the situation better.”
“If you watch the video of Andy Robertson, he says, ‘I’m departing and I’m extremely grateful. It’s been an amazing nine years; I adore the club and will always return.’ In contrast, Salah’s message felt a bit…
“I get it; forwards tend to have a different mindset compared to full-backs, who are more dependable and often work behind the scenes. They rarely become headline makers; whereas Mo Salah is among those players who have immense self-belief, so being left out hits him very personally.”
“However, it’s important to note, while people claim Mo Salah has been phenomenal for Liverpool, Liverpool has also been fantastic for Mo Salah.”
‘No single player is larger than the club’
Even though he acknowledges Salah’s influence, Collymore is confident Liverpool will adapt and discover a new star to spearhead their attack.
He added: “Let’s not forget he was performing well at Roma, but when I observed his early appearances with Chelsea, there were no signs he would evolve into the player he is now, so I found the blame-shifting from six months ago a bit disheartening.”
“As far as players are concerned, I don’t care who it is; if they’re not delivering in training—and it won’t just be Arne Slot making that call, his entire team will be assessing, saying, ‘He’s not quite at it in training, and isn’t performing in matches, so he needs to sit on the bench.’
“It’s always disappointing when a superstar departs. Yet, one thing that sets Liverpool Football Club apart from any other is their belief that no one player is bigger than the club.”
“Liverpool will find someone to step into his boots.”
