The troubled start to St George Illawarra’s year took a further turn for the worse when the club’s merchandise truck was involved in a crash while heading to the match in Wollongong.
With the Dragons yet to taste victory this season and mounting pressure on coach Shane Flanagan, the upcoming round six showdown against Manly is considered a crucial contest. The issues plaguing the Dragons clearly extend beyond the field as well.
On Friday afternoon, images surfaced on social media showcasing the merchandise truck, emblazoned with Dragons logos, lying on its side.

The club promptly issued a statement regarding the incident.
“The St George Illawarra Dragons can confirm that a merchandise trailer overturned in a single-vehicle incident on the M1 near Mount Ousley this afternoon,” the statement read.
“The mishap took place on a downhill curve while en route to WIN Stadium.”
“Fortunately, the driver sustained no injuries.”
Looking to turn their fortunes around, the struggling Saints will face Manly at WIN Stadium, with coach Flanagan making several changes to his squad.

Kyle Flanagan has been named as the new halfback, Daniel Atkinson moves to five-eighth, and Tyrell Sloan will step in at fullback, replacing the injured Clint Gutherson.
Meanwhile, young back-rower Jacob Halangahu has been omitted following limited playing time in last weekend’s disappointing 32-0 defeat to the Cowboys.
The match is set to kick off at 6pm AEST.
