Benjamin Sesko has expressed his support for Michael Carrick to be appointed as the permanent head coach of Manchester United, following his impressive management that has brought the team close to securing Champions League qualification.
United’s 2-1 victory at home against Brentford on Monday positioned them third in the Premier League table, boasting an 11-point lead over sixth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion, with just four matches left to play.
With the top five teams set to qualify for next season’s Champions League, United require just two more points to secure their place among Europe’s elite after a two-year hiatus.
“He’s an incredible coach; I’ve mentioned this more than once,” Sesko remarked after netting his 10th league goal of the season against Brentford.
“He’s infused a fresh energy into the squad. The way we’ve been training is remarkable, and naturally, I’d love to see him continue here.”
Since taking the reins on an interim basis in January after the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, Carrick has garnered public support from various United players, including Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo.
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has made significant contributions this season, scoring nine goals in the Premier League, including the opening goal against Brentford.
“He’s a relentless worker,” noted Sesko. “The effort he puts on the field is astounding. You need a player like him.”
Manchester United will face their long-standing rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.
