Callum Wilson netted a dramatic winner in the 93rd minute, lifting West Ham United to a crucial 2-1 victory against Everton at the London Stadium. This result marks an impressive sixth consecutive home league match without defeat for the Hammers, bringing them closer to securing their Premier League status.
With relegation looming, West Ham desperately needed the full three points, especially with Tottenham Hotspur facing a Wolves side already confirmed to be heading down.
The hosts certainly began with urgency, coming close within the first ten minutes as Crysencio Summerville delivered a precise cross to Tomas Soucek, who unfortunately headed just over the bar.
Although West Ham dominated much of the first half, they failed to create significant opportunities, which would have concerned manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
A lacklustre first half concluded with Jarrod Bowen sending a weak shot across goal, epitomising the struggles shared by both teams, with West Ham yet to register a single shot on target.
However, the tide turned shortly after the interval as Taty Castellanos forced Jordan Pickford into a save, and West Ham argued for a penalty after a foul during the ensuing chaos.

What followed was pure elation as Soucek leapt highest from the resulting corner to direct Bowen’s delivery into the net, giving the Hammers the lead.
However, this goal did little to energise Everton, who appeared to play as if the stakes were lower than they actually were, despite being close to the European spots.
The Toffees finally began to show signs of life, with Soucek making a crucial block during a scramble in the box, quickly followed by an important clearance from Axel Disasi as West Ham held on to their slender advantage.
Thierno Barry almost equalised for the visitors, with a header that was valiantly cleared off the line by none other than Soucek, whose earlier goal seemed to ensure all three points were secured.
Just when it looked like West Ham had done enough, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall found himself in the right spot to volley home James Tarkowski’s flick-on in the 88th minute, seemingly casting West Ham into the relegation zone.

Just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, Wilson emerged to send the London Stadium into rapture with a stunning late goal, preserving West Ham’s two-point lead over Tottenham as they battle to evade relegation.
