Bayern Munich require just two goals against St Pauli this Saturday to surpass the 54-year-old goalscoring record for a Bundesliga season.
Current league leaders under Vincent Kompany have already netted 100 goals in the Bundesliga this season—just one shy of the all-time record in German top-flight football—with six matches remaining in the 34-game season.
This previous benchmark was established by a formidable Bayern squad during the 1971-72 season, featuring legends such as Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller, and Uli Hoeness.
Having reached the century mark in Bundesliga goals, Bayern’s dominance this season is clear.

If they continue at their current scoring rate, Bayern could reach a total of 121 goals, surpassing the records held in both the Premier League and La Liga, which feature 38-game seasons.
Moreover, they could potentially challenge the all-time record of 125 goals set by Torino during a 40-game Serie A season in 1947-48.
However, Bayern may need to achieve this milestone without Harry Kane, who is also vying for a league record of his own.
Kane, with 31 goals in 26 Bundesliga matches, is 10 goals shy of Robert Lewandowski’s all-time record of 41, achieved in the 2020-21 season.

Kane missed England’s international fixtures in March due to an ankle injury but made a comeback, scoring the decisive goal in Bayern’s 2-1 Champions League victory over Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Nevertheless, the England captain did not appear to be at full fitness and may be rested against St Pauli, with the focus on Wednesday’s quarter-final second leg.
Another player likely to feature prominently is Michael Olise, who is also eyeing a record-breaking season.
Olise, who provided the assist for Kane’s goal against Real, has netted 18 goals in the Bundesliga this season, just three away from the all-time record held by Thomas Mueller from the 2019-20 campaign.
Angelo Stiller, a key midfielder for Stuttgart, has not only earned a recall to the national team last month due to his impressive form, but he has also garnered admiration from various corners of the sporting world.
Teenage darts prodigy and Manchester United supporter Luke Littler dubbed Stiller as his favourite German player during an interview at the Premier League Darts event in Berlin last month.
Speaking to DAZN, Littler expressed, “Come to United—we need help.”
Stiller’s resurgence has coincided with Stuttgart’s excellent streak, with the team losing only twice in their last 15 encounters, edging closer to a return to the Champions League.
“That’s fantastic; he’s also my favourite darts player,” Stiller remarked about Littler in an interview with the Bundesliga website on Friday.
Stiller mentioned feeling both honoured and slightly annoyed by Littler’s invitation to Old Trafford.
“It’s part of the business for rumours to circulate and things to be said. One shouldn’t get too caught up in it and should just focus on their own path.”
