Adam Pompey’s attempt to plead his case at the judiciary on Tuesday night ended in disappointment, as the Warriors standout received a two-match suspension for dangerous contact with Briton Nikora.
During the Warriors’ 36-22 defeat on Sunday, Pompey was charging towards the try line when he was tackled to the ground by Sharks second-rower Nikora.
Though the game continued after the tackle, the match review committee identified that Pompey had elevated his knee into Nikora during the clash.
Nikora quickly fell from the tackle and made his way to the trainers, clutching his nose.
Michael Ennis, the Sharks premiership winner, wasted no time in observing Nikora’s sideline departure during play, noting the 28-year-old’s previous history of a broken nose.

“Nikora has just returned from a nose injury sustained during the All Stars game,” Ennis remarked on Fox League.
“He’s taken a solid hit from Adam Pompey and is now attending to that nose with the trainer.”

Nikora had been absent from the Sharks’ round-four match due to a broken nose, which had sidelined him for a week.
Despite the unfortunate incident, Nikora has been named by coach Craig Fitzgibbon to face the Roosters this coming week.
Initially handed a one-game suspension for the incident, Pompey chose to contest the ruling.
However, the judiciary ultimately found him guilty of a grade-two charge on Tuesday.
As a result, Pompey will miss upcoming matches against the Storm and Titans.
