Defender Harry Maguire has inked a new deal with Manchester United that will keep him at the club until 2027, with the potential for an additional year, as confirmed by the Premier League side on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old England international has made a total of 266 appearances since his transfer to United in 2019 for a then-record fee of £80 million ($106 million) for a centre back, contributing to their FA Cup and League Cup victories.
“Wearing the Manchester United jersey is the pinnacle of my career,” Maguire expressed. “I am thrilled to extend my journey with this remarkable club for at least eight seasons and to continue playing in front of our incredible supporters, hoping to create even more unforgettable moments together.”
After facing challenges that saw him lose the captaincy and his usual starting position, Maguire has regained his spot in the team under interim manager Michael Carrick, playing a key role in their ascent to third place in the league standings.
“Harry embodies the mentality and resilience needed to succeed at Manchester United,” noted United Director of Football Jason Wilcox. “He is the consummate professional who adds invaluable leadership to our ambitious young squad.”
