As the weekend approaches, it’s not the lengthy travel schedule that has the Sharks on edge; rather, it’s the prospect of a motivated Cowboys side ready to rebound that has them concerned.
Cronulla faces a tough start to their campaign, having kicked off the season in Las Vegas against the reigning champions, Penrith, before making the lengthy trip to Townsville this Saturday.

“We’re dealing with a lot of travel, but I believe we have it managed,” said Sharks forward Teig Wilton during an interview with Wide World of Sports.
“Having last weekend off was beneficial for us, and our preparation has been different from previous years. Losing to Penrith in the US was disappointing, but they are a top-notch team and four-time champions for a reason. We performed well and took many positives from the game.”

Wilton acknowledges his concerns facing a Cowboys outfit hungry to get back on track after their hefty 42-12 loss to Manly in their opening match.

“They’ll be looking to make a statement, especially at home for their first match of the season,” the dedicated back-rower observed.
“They are a strong side and will be fired up for the occasion.”
“We realise we’re in for a tough match and must bring our A-game.”
In light of their recent defeat, coach Todd Payten has made a bold decision, dropping star player Jeremiah Nanai to reserve grade for this weekend’s clash.
