Konstantinos Mavropanos and Taty Castellanos both found the net twice as West Ham United secured a commanding 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League (PL). This result sees the Hammers take a significant stride towards evading a first relegation since the 2010/11 season.
Entering the match just one point from safety, West Ham understood that a win would propel them out of the relegation zone at the expense of their local rivals, Tottenham.
Despite this motivation, it was Wolverhampton who began the match strongly, with André sending a distant shot over the bar early on.
The Hammers gradually found their rhythm and squandered a brilliant opportunity to open the scoring when Crysencio Summerville shot over from eight yards following a superb lobbed pass from Mateus Fernandes.
As the first half unfolded, both teams posed a threat, with Jarrod Bowen’s tame shot comfortably saved by José Sá, while at the other end, Adam Armstrong failed to beat Mads Hermansen with a header from close range.

With a history of winning the last five home encounters in the PL, West Ham ramped up the pressure before half-time, resulting in Mavropanos heading home Bowen’s superb inswinging cross in the 42nd minute.
The action continued at a frenetic pace in the second half, with both teams striking the woodwork in quick succession.
First, Angel Gomes saw a free-kick hit the post for the visitors, swiftly followed by Bowen, who crashed a shot against Sá’s upright.
Not to be left out, West Ham increased their tally in the 66th minute, as Castellanos and his strike partner Pablo linked up brilliantly, leading to a precise finish from the Argentine.
Emboldened, the Hammers swiftly added a third just two minutes later, with Bowen assisting Castellanos, whose deflected effort rolled into the bottom corner.

With the momentum firmly in their favour, West Ham pressed on, adding a fourth goal late in the match through Mavropanos, who executed a spectacular volley from Bowen’s corner, thereby confirming the scoreline and lifting the Hammers out of relegation territory.
On the other hand, Rob Edwards’ side faces the possibility of relegation to the Championship as early as next weekend following their 16th match without a win on the road this season (D5, L11).
