The NSW Waratahs have faced a harsh reality check, suffering a significant setback to their Super Rugby Pacific finals ambitions.
Just a week after their unexpected win over the ACT Brumbies in Canberra, the Waratahs stumbled in Hamilton as the Chiefs outplayed them in a commanding 42-14 victory on Saturday night.
Sid Harvey, who has been a standout performer for the Waratahs this season, set the tone for a disappointing outing with a misjudged fumble that allowed the Chiefs to score their first try.

Despite the setback, Harvey rebounded admirably to score NSW’s first try, maintaining his solid kicking form.
However, the Chiefs demonstrated a higher level of intensity and attacking flair compared to their opponents, with their international stars making a significant impact.

Centre Quinn Tupaea joined Taumoefolau in scoring two tries each, while hooker Samisoni Taukei’aho and flanker Samipeni Finau added their names to the scoreboard.
This bonus point win propels the Chiefs (5-2) into third place on the ladder, while the Waratahs sit seventh with a record of 3-4.
The top six teams will advance to the finals.
