A lightning strike caused a delay in both the AFL and rugby union matches, which were being held just a stadium apart.
The Waratahs were ahead with a score of 22-14 in the 70th minute at 9:08pm when match officials informed the referee of lightning in the vicinity, prompting a halt to the game.
Commentator Sean Maloney from Stan Sport expressed his frustration, repeatedly exclaiming “no” and lamenting “not again,” recalling a similar incident during the match between the Reds and Brumbies back in March.

As the delay was announced, spectators, including Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, were required to seek shelter at the Super Rugby event.
Play at Allianz Stadium resumed at 9:50pm.
Meanwhile, the SCG experienced the lightning delay during the half-time break of the derby between the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants, with players already off the field.
The Swans were ahead 7.3 (45) to 3.8 (26) at the half-time mark.
The resumption of play at the SCG occurred later than at Allianz, with the match recommencing at 10:02pm.
