Just a few days after ousting Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid to qualify for the Champions League semi-finals, Bayern Munich could cap off a stellar week by clinching the Bundesliga title on Sunday.
With a 12-point lead and only five matches to go, coupled with an impressive goal difference of +78, Bayern’s 35th league title appears to be a mere formality.
The title could be secured in front of their home crowd against Stuttgart, who currently sit third in the standings, provided they outdo Borussia Dortmund in their match at sixth-placed Hoffenheim on Saturday.
After a brilliant display against Real, Bayern’s coach Vincent Kompany might consider resting some of his key players, especially with a German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen just three days away.
While the league leaders seem destined for a 13th title in 14 years, they have not reached the German Cup final since 2020.
Even as the league title appears almost in the bag, Stuttgart’s recent form suggests that a victory on Sunday is far from certain.
Since their defeat to Bayern in December, Stuttgart has lost only two of their past 16 league matches.
This may not be the final encounter between the two teams this season.
With Stuttgart set to face Freiburg on Thursday in their German Cup semi-final, the two clubs could potentially meet for a fourth showdown this season in the Berlin final at the end of May.

Bayern kicked off their season with a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup back in August.
Stuttgart forward Jamie Leweling, boasting an impressive tally of seven goals and seven assists in the league this season, stated that their team will take an attacking approach in Bayern’s backyard.
“You have to play with courage,” Leweling commented on the Bundesliga website. “It requires bravery, but not recklessness, as they capitalise on every error.”
“It’s vital to stay composed and play with confidence.”
