Last season’s extraordinary Allsvenskan champions Mjallby have already suffered more defeats this season than in their entire 2025 campaign, succumbing to a 2-0 loss against newly-promoted Orgryte. Meanwhile, Hacken claimed victory in the first Gothenburg derby of the season by defeating Goteborg, and Vasteras played to a draw with Elfsborg.
Mjallby 0-2 Orgryte
Orgryte’s return to the top division started off well with a draw against Malmo, but they raised their game further by becoming the first team to secure an Allsvenskan win at Strandvallen since 2024.
Anton Andreasson intercepted a pass from Tobias Sana just 10 yards into Mjallby’s territory, surging forward before his deflected shot found its way past Robin Wallinder, putting Orgryte ahead after 21 minutes.
Just five minutes later, MAIF failed to clear a corner. Mikael Dyrestam nudged the ball forward amidst a scramble in the penalty area, allowing Jerome Tibbling to swoop in and poke home the second goal from just six yards out, catching Wallinder off-guard.
In the early stages of the second half, Abdoulie Manneh had a couple of well-blocked attempts before Hampus Gustafsson tipped Aki Samuelsen’s free-kick around the post. Mjallby struggled to find a way back into the match and faced consecutive defeats without scoring in the league under Karl Marius Aksum.
Goteborg 0-2 Hacken
Hackens took local bragging rights on matchday two, winning the first Gothenburg derby of the season 2-0 away at Goteborg, who ended the match with ten men.
A rapid attack in the 17th minute set the tone, with Julius Lindberg sweeping the ball wide on the left before squaring it across the Goteborg six-yard box, allowing Gustav Lindgren to tap it home.
The hosts found an opportunity to level the scoring midway through the first half when Filip Helander brought down Adam Bergmark-Wiberg in the area, but Tobias Heintz’s penalty sailed wide.
Lindberg squandered a prime chance to double the lead in the second half, but Hacken finally secured the points six minutes from the end when Amor Layouni’s left-wing cross was met on the volley by Mikkel Rygaard, who cushioned it into the net.
In the dying moments, Rockson Yeboah received a red card after colliding with Sanders Ngabo, adding to a dismal afternoon for IFK, who remain without a point after two games, joining Mjallby at the bottom of the table.
Vasteras 2-2 Elfsborg
Vasteras, Elfsborg, Hacken, and Orgryte are early leaders in the standings with four points each, but newly-promoted Vasteras might have had even more if they hadn’t conceded a last-minute equaliser at home.
After a goalless first half, Elfsborg took the lead within four minutes of the restart when Niklas Hult capitalised on a deep cross from Rufai Mohammed, bringing it down before smashing it in off the crossbar.
However, in the 73rd minute, Vasteras equalised as Mikkel Ladefoged flicked in a corner from Marcus Baggesen at the near post. Eight minutes later, they took the lead when Mamadou Diagne won the ball in Elfsborg’s half and slipped it through to Ladefoged, who finished with style.
Yet, Thomas Isherwood denied the Superettan champions all three points with a ball across the edge of the area, which was struck on the half-volley by Ari Sigurpalsson to draw Elfsborg level in added time.
