Preparations for the 2025 Australian Formula 4 Championship are underway, featuring notable modifications for the upcoming year.
Calendar
The Australian Formula 4 season will span five rounds starting in March 2025, with venues including Sydney Motorsport Park, The Bend’s Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in South Australia, and Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria.
Round 1: Sydney Motorsport Park, NSW – March 2025
Round 2: Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, The Bend, SA – May 2025
Round 3: Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, The Bend, SA – July 2025
Round 4: Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Victoria – August 2025
Round 5: Sydney Motorsport Park, NSW – September 2025

Vehicle Eligibility & Minimum Age Adjustment
Given the abundance of Formula 4 cars in private ownership throughout Australia, both Generation 2 Tatuus and Generation 1 Mygale Formula 4 vehicles will be permitted to race concurrently in the championship for the first time.
To facilitate the transition for drivers emerging from karting, individuals aged 14 will now be allowed to compete in the Generation 1 Mygale chassis under a separate Formula 4 Junior category.
On the starting grid, Generation 1 and Generation 2 cars will be divided into two groups, with Generation 2 vehicles positioned in the front half. This arrangement aims to provide a safe environment for Generation 1 cars to race alongside similarly paced Formula 4 competitors.
This initiative intends to support drivers ready to graduate from karting, providing essential race experience prior to competing in other Formula 4 Championships locally or internationally.
Drivers aged 14 may take part in non-competitive testing of the Generation 2 Tatuus car, preparing to race in Gen 2 cars as they turn 15. Furthermore, unlimited testing will be allowed in 2025, primarily to help young drivers hone their skills before entering overseas formula competitions.

Championship Structure
As a development category aimed at nurturing young talent transitioning from karting, the Australian Championship remains committed to catering to a diverse range of drivers.
A considerable number of Formula 4 vehicles are owned by owner-drivers who simply wish to relish the excitement of motorsport, and may not view the championship as a pathway to international events.
Consequently, various Cups will be awarded to recognise and reward drivers competing in different classes.
Masters Cups will be available for Gen 1 and Gen 2 participants aged 18 and above, while the Junior Cup is exclusive to drivers aged 14–17 in Gen 1 cars only.
The overall title of the Australian Formula 4 Championship will be reserved for drivers competing in Generation 2 cars exclusively.
Various team structures are available, tailored to the needs of each driver. Participants have the option to buy a car outright and race it independently, or choose a team to manage and prepare their vehicle. A team can also provide a car for a driver to lease and race under an ‘arrive-and-drive’ arrangement.

Change of Promoter
The Australian Formula 4 Championship will now be promoted by AGI Sport, a well-established Formula 4 team since the championship’s launch in 2015.
AGI Sport will remain active in the Championship while Motorsport Australia will oversee adherence to the sporting and technical regulations.
The Championship cordially invites other teams and private entrants to join the 2025 season, encouraging interested parties to reach out to AGI Sport to express their intent.
In addition to their Australian operations, AGI Sport currently runs the ARDC Race Academy and provides Formula 4 programmes across Asia, the UAE, the Middle East, and North America, while also serving as a technical partner in Motorsport Australia’s Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy Asia-Pacific Selection Program.
