Last season’s remarkable Allsvenskan champions, Mjallby, have already lost more matches this season than they did throughout the entire 2025 campaign. They succumbed to a 2-0 defeat against newly-promoted Orgryte, while Hacken triumphed in the first Gothenburg derby of the season by overcoming Goteborg, and Vasteras played out a draw with Elfsborg.
Mjallby 0-2 Orgryte
Orgryte’s return to the top tier kicked off well with a draw against Malmo, but their fortunes soared as they became the first team to win an Allsvenskan match at Strandvallen since 2024.
Anton Andreasson capitalised on a pass from Tobias Sana just 10 yards into Mjallby’s half, embarking on a determined run before seeing his deflected shot leave Robin Wallinder in the Mjallby goal stranded, putting Orgryte in front after just 21 minutes.
Five minutes later, Mjallby failed to clear a corner, and after a scramble in their penalty area, Mikael Dyrestam nodded the ball forward. Jerome Tibbling reacted quickly to get to the loose ball, poking home a second goal from close range.
Early in the second half, Abdoulie Manneh had two goalbound attempts expertly blocked, while a free-kick from Aki Samuelsen was tipped around the post by Hampus Gustafsson. Mjallby struggled to find a way back into the match, succumbing to consecutive league defeats without scoring under Karl Marius Aksum.
Goteborg 0-2 Hacken
Hacken claimed local bragging rights on matchday two, winning the first Gothenburg derby of the season with a 2-0 victory at Goteborg, who finished the match with ten men.
A swift counter-attack in the 17th minute set the tone for the match, as Julius Lindberg received the ball wide on the left before squaring it into the six-yard box, allowing Gustav Lindgren to tap it in.
Goteborg had an ideal opportunity to equalise midway through the first half when Filip Helander fouled Adam Bergmark-Wiberg inside the box, but Tobias Heintz sent his penalty wide.
Lindberg missed a golden chance to extend the lead in the second half, but Hacken sealed the victory six minutes from time when Amor Layouni delivered a cross from the left, and Mikkel Rygaard met it with a volley that cushioned it neatly into the net.
In the dying moments, Rockson Yeboah received a straight red card for a knee-on-knee collision with Sanders Ngabo, compounding a difficult afternoon for IFK, who, like Mjallby, find themselves on zero points after two matches.
Vasteras 2-2 Elfsborg
Vasteras, Elfsborg, Hacken, and Orgryte are the early frontrunners with four points each, but Vasteras might have secured more had they not conceded a last-minute equaliser at home.
After a scoreless first half, Elfsborg took the lead just four minutes after the break when a deep cross from Rufai Mohammed eluded everyone except Niklas Hult at the back post, who brought it down and struck it in off the crossbar.
However, Vasteras levelled in the 73rd minute when Mikkel Ladefoged flicked in a corner from Marcus Baggesen at the near post, and just eight minutes later, they took the lead as Mamadou Diagne won the ball in Elfsborg’s half and played it through to Ladefoged, who finished expertly.
Sadly for the Superettan champions, they were denied full points in added time when Ari Sigurpalsson smashed home a half-volley from Thomas Isherwood’s ball across the edge of the area, equalising for Elfsborg.
