Last season’s fairytale Allsvenskan victors, Mjallby, have already experienced more defeats this season than they did throughout the entire 2025 campaign, succumbing to a 2-0 loss against newly-promoted Orgryte. Meanwhile, Hacken triumphed in the season’s first Gothenburg derby by overcoming Goteborg, and Vasteras played out a draw with Elfsborg.
Mjallby 0-2 Orgryte
Orgryte’s return to the top division began positively with a draw against Malmo, but it got even better as they became the first team to secure a win at Strandvallen in Allsvenskan since 2024.
In the 21st minute, Anton Andreasson intercepted a pass from Tobias Sana just 10 yards into Mjallby’s half, making a determined run before his deflected shot found the net, eluding Robin Wallinder in goal.
Just five minutes later, Mjallby failed to clear a corner, and the ball, bouncing around in their penalty area, was nodded on by Mikael Dyrestam. Jerome Tibbling managed to beat Wallinder to the loose ball, poking in another goal from close range.
Abdoulie Manneh had two attempts expertly denied early in the second half, while Aki Samuelsen’s free-kick was cleverly tipped around the post by Hampus Gustafsson. Mjallby struggled to make a comeback and faced back-to-back defeats without scoring in the league under Karl Marius Aksum.
Goteborg 0-2 Hacken
On matchday two, Hacken seized local bragging rights by winning the first Gothenburg derby of the season, defeating Goteborg 2-0 away from home, with the hosts finishing with ten men.
In the 17th minute, a quick counter-attack set the tone, as Julius Lindberg swept the ball to the left, squaring it across the Goteborg six-yard box for Gustav Lindgren to tap in.
Goteborg had a prime opportunity to equalise midway through the first half when Filip Helander brought down Adam Bergmark-Wiberg in the penalty area, but Tobias Heintz missed his spot-kick.
Lindberg squandered a golden chance to extend the lead in the second half, but Hacken finally secured the points six minutes before the end, when Amor Layouni sent a cross from the left wing, and Mikkel Rygaard volleyed it effortlessly into the net.
In a frustrating conclusion for IFK, Rockson Yeboah was shown a straight red card for kneeing Sanders Ngabo, as they joined Mjallby at the bottom of the table with zero points after two matches.
Vasteras 2-2 Elfsborg
Early-season leaders Vasteras, Elfsborg, Hacken, and Orgryte all sit on four points, although Vasteras could have had more had they not conceded a last-gasp equaliser at home.
After a scoreless first half, Elfsborg took the lead just four minutes after the break when a deep cross from Rufai Mohammed floated past everyone except Niklas Hult, who took control and hammered the ball in off the crossbar.
However, Vasteras levelled the score in the 73rd minute when Mikkel Ladefoged flicked in a corner from Marcus Baggesen at the near post, and eight minutes later, they took the lead when Mamadou Diagne won possession in the Elfsborg half and set up Ladefoged, who finished with flair.
Yet, the Superettan champions were denied a full three points when Thomas Isherwood’s ball across the edge of the box was struck on the half-volley by Ari Sigurpalsson, equalising for Elfsborg right at the death.
