Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce dismissed coach Domenico Tedesco on Monday, just a day after suffering a heavy defeat in the Istanbul derby against their title rivals, Galatasaray.
The former Belgium manager, who stepped in for Jose Mourinho in September, was unable to see the season through.
Fenerbahce’s hopes of clinching their first Super Lig title since 2014 are now all but extinguished following a 3-0 loss to Galatasaray on Sunday, leaving them seven points adrift of their city rivals with only three matches left this season.
The match was marred by tension, with Fenerbahce midfielder Talisca missing a penalty in the first half when the score was still level, while goalkeeper Ederson was shown a red card in the second half.
In a statement, Fenerbahce announced the termination of sporting director Devin Ozek and football coordinator Berke Celebi, with assistant coach Zeki Murat Gole stepping in to take charge until the end of the season.
