Fans Select Matildas Star Tameka Yallop as March’s Shark Player of the Month

Brisbane Roar and CommBank Matildas sensation, Tameka Yallop, has earned the title of March Shark Player of the Month in the Ninja A-League following a popular fan vote.

The 33-year-old triumphed over a competitive field. Newcastle Jets midfielder Sophie Hoban secured the runner-up spot, while Melbourne City striker Mariana Speckmaier completed the top three.

Each month, the ten nominees are chosen based on FotMob’s rating system. The players boasting the highest FotMob ratings (ranging from 0.0 to 10.0) throughout the voting period are nominated for the Shark Player of the Month award.

This month’s eligibility spanned Rounds 17-20 of the Ninja A-League season, with matches played between February 28 and March 27 being considered for the FotMob ratings.

Yallop achieved a FotMob rating of 7.84 during the eligibility period. Her outstanding form in March was highlighted by a stunning brace scored against Newcastle Jets at Perry Park; these two goals brought the Matildas forward’s season total to nine, just three behind the Golden Boot leaders Emily Gielnik and Holly McNamara.
