Unsettling times for the Dragons have intensified following the announcement that Origin representative Jaydn Su’A will depart the club at season’s end.
Despite having a contract option allowing for an extension until 2027, Su’A has chosen to leave amid the club’s dismal performance.
According to reports from News Corp, the second-rower is set to join the Parramatta Eels as part of Jason Ryles’ efforts to reshape the team’s roster.
Dragons CEO Tim Watsford confirmed the news in an official statement.
“Jaydn has played a vital role in our squad and has made a significant contribution to the club during his time in the Red V,” he remarked.

“We appreciate Jaydn’s efforts with the Dragons and wish him and his family the very best for the future.”
Joining the club in 2022, Su’A has made 76 appearances, earning the 2024 Dragons Medal as the NRL team’s player of the year.

Given Su’A’s friendship with new Dragons recruit and former Souths teammate Keaon Koloamatangi, his departure further emphasises the need for the club to find success.
While a freeze on player retention has been recently imposed by the club, Su’A was not affected by this situation, as his contract option was in his favour.
Shane Flanagan’s side has yet to secure a win this season, marking 10 consecutive losses following a disappointing end to 2025.
The future of Flanagan has become a major topic of discussion, alongside the performances of the Dragons’ management team. General manager Ben Haran has served at the club for more than ten years, six of which have been in his current role.
Reports indicate that the club’s board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday to discuss the team’s performance.
