Participants in Motorsport Australia’s FIA Girls on Track often engage in a variety of extracurricular pursuits during their academic journeys, including the notable 18-year-old from South Australia, Jasmin Low.
Recognised as a champion of sustainability and social justice by the South Australian Certificate of Education Board, Jasmin achieved a Merit classification for her Research Project focusing on the net zero objectives of Formula 1 and their significance to Australia’s climate commitments.
As a contributor for DIVEBOMB Motorsport Magazine, Jasmin writes articles on Feeder Series motorsport, proudly representing the publication alongside both local and international media at motorsport events.
In addition, she is a founding member of her school’s Reconciliation Action Plan Committee, where she actively advocates for cultural awareness and inclusion. Jasmin aims to drive ethical innovation within the motorsport industry.
Her research project was a significant endeavour, taking two terms to complete during her Year 11 studies.
“Essentially, you have one semester to conduct a detailed research project on any topic of your choice. You explore various avenues, create a folio, and then produce an outcome, such as a written report or a website that reflects your findings,” said Low.
“As part of that, I attended the Australian Grand Prix for the first time in 2024, where I had discussions with the ESG manager and technical director at Formula One, which proved to be pivotal for my research.
“I subsequently compiled all of that into a report, which earned me a State Merit, placing me in the top 2% of my entire student cohort.”

During last year’s bp Adelaide Grand Final event, Jasmin had the opportunity to shadow Charlie Barlow, the Motorsport Australia Development Manager, as well as Michael Heaton from Supercars, to deepen her understanding of broadcasting and media coverage. She also provided social media updates for Women in Automotive.
At the conclusion of 2025, St Aloysius College in Adelaide nominated Jasmin for the Governor’s Commendation, making her one of the 17,000 students put forward from schools statewide.
Among the 40 recipients of this accolade, Low received the notification on the same day she received her final Year 12 results.
“I first attended a Girls on Track event when I was just 15, back in 2023 at what was then known as the Adelaide 500,” she recalled.
“That experience allowed me to forge some valuable connections and lifelong friendships with others who have also journeyed through this component of the program.
“Last year marked my first chance to attend the Career & Mentoring Summit, where we acquired skills in networking and personal branding, enabling us to approach potential employers with confidence about who we are.”
“Through the mentoring aspect, I was paired with Kate Peck, who has been an incredibly positive influence throughout this process. She’s fantastic and has been a great sounding board for my ideas, particularly regarding my pitch related to my accreditation.”
Peck, a strong advocate for the Girls on Track initiative, expressed immense pride in Jasmin’s dedication to her work over recent years.
“Jasmin is the most dedicated, humble, and perceptive individual. She demonstrates tremendous initiative and operates under the radar, which is why this doesn’t surprise me,” Peck stated.
“At her young age, she works exceptionally hard behind the scenes and has undoubtedly been one of the most outstanding mentees I’ve encountered during my time with Girls on Track. Her future looks incredibly bright, thanks in part to Girls on Track for inspiring her and demonstrating that women can accomplish great things. She’s truly embraced this opportunity with both hands and is thriving.”
Currently, Low is pursuing a Bachelor of Business with a major in Marketing and Communications at Adelaide University, with plans to embark on a Master’s degree focusing on sustainable futures.
