Reece Walsh’s bid for what could have been one of the most remarkable tries of his career was thwarted — all by mere millimetres.
The Brisbane fullback, who clinched the Clive Churchill Medal, electrified fans at Cbus Super Stadium on Easter Saturday, captivating not just Broncos supporters but also those wearing Titans colours with a stunning run down the left flank late in the first half.
He expertly gathered a high kick from Jayden Campbell deep in Broncos territory, shrugged off Keano Kini, and evaded Sialetili Faeamani with the agility of a seasoned performer.
Walsh then dodged a diving Cooper Bai, danced along the sidelines, zipped past a leaping Campbell, and continued his breathtaking sprint.
As he curved towards the posts, he flashed a grin at the crowd, seemingly asking, “What do you think of that?”
And the crowd responded with enthusiasm.

However, while he was light-footedly navigating the edge, the touch judge raised his flag, and replays showed that Walsh had indeed made contact with the line — not just once, but twice.
His moment was further dampened when he was ruled out for the second half after failing a head injury assessment.
The Broncos also suffered a blow when their captain and experienced halfback Adam Reynolds had to leave the field due to a strained groin in the 25th minute, with Ben Hunt stepping in as his replacement.
