Takehiro Tomiyasu (26) has become the latest player from Arsenal to undergo surgery, revealing on Tuesday that he has had an operation on his right knee.
While he did not specify when he might return, British media sources have indicated that he is likely to be out for the rest of the season.
Tomiyasu is the third Arsenal player to have surgery in the last month, following in the footsteps of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus.
“I had knee surgery a few days ago, and I’ve already begun my rehabilitation to get back to doing what I love most.” Tomiyasu shared on Instagram.
“This has undoubtedly been the toughest period of my career, and it will continue for a while longer, but I am determined not to give up.“
The Japanese defender, who joined Arsenal from Bologna in 2021, featured in 30 matches last season. Unfortunately, a series of injuries have limited his involvement to just six minutes this campaign, with his only appearance being as a substitute against Southampton in October.
Arsenal, currently trailing Premier League leaders Liverpool by seven points, will take on West Ham United at home this Saturday.
