Liverpool has announced that Andy Robertson will depart the club at the conclusion of this season.
The 32-year-old defender has made 373 appearances for the Reds since his transfer from Hull City in the summer of 2017. Following his exit, the club described him as “a true Liverpool legend” in a statement shared on their official website.
As skipper of Scotland, Robertson has celebrated numerous triumphs during his nine-year tenure at Anfield, including two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and two League Cups, amongst other accolades.
“Leaving a club like Liverpool is never a simple decision; it has been a monumental part of my life and my family’s for the past nine years,” Robertson reflected.
“However, I understand that players and staff move on; the club and the fans, however, remain constant. My time here has been remarkable.”
“Football evolves, squads change, and I believe now is the right moment for me to embark on the next chapter of my career, wherever that may lead.”
“I will forever cherish the wonderful memories I’ve amassed at this football club. I have given my all for nine years, and I don’t have many regrets.”
“This club will always hold a special place in my heart, as will its supporters. It has been quite the journey.”
