The signing of Mitch Barnett at the Broncos has been officially confirmed, thanks to the recent transfer of Grant Anderson, who will join the Warriors as part of the deal.
Barnett was granted permission to leave New Zealand on compassionate grounds and subsequently inked a three-year contract with Brisbane, contingent upon the transfer of a player to the Warriors.
Anderson, who made the switch to the Broncos from Melbourne at the start of the season, will move to the Warriors despite having a contract that runs until the end of 2027. His new deal will also provide him with a three-year commitment, offering increased security.
“Grant has proven to be a fantastic addition to our club and has thoroughly embraced our culture and standards,” stated Simon Scanlan, the Broncos’ recruitment manager.
“We eagerly anticipate his return to the field in the upcoming weeks.”

Delighted with the acquisition, Warriors head coach Andrew Webster expressed his excitement about adding the former Storm winger to the squad.
“Grant is a skilled outside back and will certainly add value,” he remarked.
“He strengthens our depth in the outside-back positions and will enhance competition within the team.
“His professional mindset, cultivated during four seasons with the Storm and now at the Broncos, will be a significant asset for us.”

Maguire journeyed to Sydney earlier this season to pitch to the prop, and Barnett’s signing became crucial after Payne Haas announced his intention to join South Sydney.
“We’re thrilled to have Mitch join us at Brisbane next year,” Scanlan remarked.
“He is a seasoned performer at both the club and representative levels, embodying the leadership, professionalism, and competitive spirit we value at the Broncos.
“Mitch leads by example, and his durability, consistency, and vast experience will make him a tremendous asset to our team.”
