Thomas Partey, a player for Villarreal, appeared in a London court on Monday where he entered a plea of not guilty to two additional rape charges.
The Ghanaian international has previously refuted five counts of rape involving two women, as well as a charge of sexual assault against a third woman, occurring between 2021 and 2022.
The 32-year-old midfielder faced two more accusations of rape related to a fourth complainant in December 2020, for which he maintained his not guilty plea at Southwark Crown Court.
The alleged incidents transpired while Partey was playing for Premier League club Arsenal. He departed from the Gunners last summer and signed with Villarreal in Spain.
Partey has been granted bail ahead of his trial, initially scheduled to commence in November; however, it may now face delays.
In 2020, Partey was acquired by Arsenal from Atletico Madrid for a fee of €50 million (approximately $58.49 million) and quickly became an integral part of the team’s starting lineup, before his contract concluded at the end of June.
